How to Keep Your Roof in Good Condition

US Roofing LLC think that your roof is the most important part of your home. It keeps you protected from rain, hail, and any pests which want to fly in. Keeping your roof in good condition is about being able to spot problems and knowing when it’s time to call in the experts.

Search for Moss

Moss is the enemy of roof tiles because it can separate them and create holes. The rain causes moss to grow by nourishing it and helping it to strengthen itself. You can commonly find it in the guttering, and when it grows too strong the roof can’t take the weight and it falls to the ground. If you have been spotting lots of moss on your porch lately, inspect your roof from the ground with a pair of binoculars.

Debris

Letting debris fester on your roof creates additional strain on the shingles, along with moisture damage. After any bout of extreme weather, check the roof and clean off any leaves and other debris with a long-handled rake. You should also inspect the roof for debris every six months, regardless of if you have had any extreme weather.

Ice Damming

Make sure your attic is sufficiently insulated. In the winter, this stops heat from rising up to the roof and warming it up. Any snow or ice already up there will melt and lead to standing water problems. Having a damp roof reduces its lifespan and can cause issues in your house. Moreover, quick freezes and thaws can damage the shingles themselves.

If your roof needs repairs, avoid trying to fix it yourself. Call in to US Roofing LLC which is an  Atlanta Roofing Contractor  to make sure it’s done properly. You’ll appreciate it in the long run.
